Whew, I'm tired... It seems like it's been quite some time since I've been on here.  So I guess a recapitulation of my life is in order.

First of all, besides a couple classes, the semester is going swimmingly.  I should escape Spring 08 with a majority of A's.  A feat that always pleases me.  Schoolwork has definitely been stressful, and I'm really not looking forward to next semester, when it may just put me over the edge.  I'm taking Water Resources, which according to all my friends is a huge headache, and Senior Design.  Which is also going to be a headache, because I'm graduating in the Fall semester, which means the Senior Design project will be EnvE based.  It's the Civil Dept.'s way of throwing us a bone.  Unfortunately this bone comes with three CE major partners who probably couldn't tell you the basic processes used in a waste water treatment plant.  On the upside, if we are doing waste water treatment, I might get to learn more about oxidation ditches.  Which I've always wanted to really look more in depth on, but never had the chance.

Now that you're all bored with my EnvE mumbo jumbo, I'll move on to more fun things... Lance!!!  Things are going REALLY well with Lance.  I think we've both gotten more used to being long distance.  Don't get me wrong, it still hurts a LOT being away from him so much.  But we've been doing really well.  Contrary to popular belief, long distance CAN work.  Anyway, Lance and I decided to move our wedding date up (again, for those of you who are counting)  Originally it was Sept 2009, then it was Aug 2009, and now we've decided May 16, 2009.  Which is only about a year away.  So, this summer is going to be devoted to planning a wedding, start to finish.  I mostly want to get it done to the T as much as possible before I go back to school next fall.  However, if it's not, I can work on it over the phone, and in the spring.  Mostly, I'm just excited that in ONE YEAR, I'm going to be married to the sweetest, handsomest, smartest, and funniest man I've ever met.  I don't know how I got so lucky, but I'll gladly accept it.

In other random news... I do have a summer "job".  It's not an internship really, I"m not working for a company.  But I am working in a research lab for groundwater nutrient transport.  Mostly I'm excited because this means I get to live with my Lancey all summer long.  Which will be nice, since we're coming off of being separated for so long.  I'm very excited.  Then, like I mentioned, I'll be graduating in December (eek! so soon!).  I'm about 99% sure I want to go ahead and get my masters degree, but I think I'll get it from K-State (since I'll be married the following May, and I refuse to be married to my man and not be living with him, that's just unnatural)  K-State has a GeoEnvironmental Engineering graduate program, that I might look into.  It's basically the ChemE, Agro, CE, and GE departments all kind of working together.  Anyway, since I'm kind of heavily leaning toward doing some sort of groundwater and soil remediation as my career, this would be REALLY good degree to have.

Last little tid bit of news.  Today was kind of fun, the campus had a guest "speaker"  And by that I mean, we had some crazy preacher come to our campus and stand in front of the Havener Center (our student union) shouting out that everyone on the campus was going to hell.  Pretty much if you've ever had sex, you're doomed.  I know you're thinking, what about married people, but he actually went after a married woman saying that her marriage wasn't holy in the eyes of the Lord, therefore she was a whore.  I guess the best word for his message was shocking.  It was just amazing what was coming out of his mouth (in front of his 8ish year old son he brought with him)  I actually could not believe what he was saying.  Ironically enough, he came to campus on National Day of Silence.  Which for the GLBTA community is a day when you refuse to say a single word all day in order to symbolize that many gay/bi/tran people in the world can't speak out about who they really are without facing severe persecution.  It was really quite shocking what was happening.  And technically campus police couldn't do anything because he had gotten a permit to speak.  So mostly there was just a crowd around him laughing and making jokes and shouting at him.  A handful of people got into pretty heated debates.  One friend of mine who shall go nameless because s/he's a member of the GLBTA orginization on campus went up to him and asked him to shake his/her hand.  The man refused because this person was wearing a "gay, fine by me" t-shirt, and he couldn't touch a person who could POSSIBLY be gay.  It was kind of crazy... I felt bad for the kid... I feel bad for any child raised in an environment where they have no freedom to discover things like religion and sexuality and free thought for themselves.  Anyway, after a while of listening, and occasionally shouting out things about how love is always preferable to hate, I went home, because I was bored/annoyed.

Was it that Brother Jed guy? The one who's from Columbia originally? He brings his wife and MIL with him, sometimes. He came to Truman a few times last year...I took some photos and video but never got around to posting it.

Lol one of my profs was a self-described old hippie, and one day I walked into class and the room was empty except for her. I handed in my paper and asked where everyone was, and she said, "they all turned in their papers and are out watching the...lecture...on campus. Go! Go! Go listen! And come back in 20 minutes to discuss!" she was all wound up about it--it was pretty cool
